We chose to research the International Space Station . One of the problems they are having is the increasing amount of space debris that must be avoided. Click here to learn more about space debris.
Model of our Solution
Our solution to remove existing space debris was a special rocket that would be carried to the edge of space by the White Knight 2. Then the nose cone would open up and a carbon fiber net would shoot out to capture the debris. We would then put it in the rocket's recycle bin and bring it back to Earth. We named our rocket BOB.
We put together a display for the Challenger Learning Center, located in Oregon, Ohio, so that kids from around northwest Ohio could learn about FLL and space debris.
